Efficacy of Natural Wetlands to Retain Nutrient, Sediment and Microbial Pollutants

Title
Efficacy of Natural Wetlands to Retain Nutrient, Sediment and Microbial Pollutants
Abstract
This study examined water quality benefits provided by natural wetlands and degraded, channelized wetlands in agricultural landscapes of the Sierra Nevada foothills. The non-degraded wetland significantly improved water quality, and the study suggests that maintenance of natural wetlands can be an important management strategy for water quality in agricultural areas.
